For the 3 people who read this with any sort of regularity.
We started this blog as a creative outlet while in graduate school. The goal was never to become some famous bloggers with a monetized site or a big following, but to keep track of the dishes we made that we wanted to remember. For awhile there, especially in the beginning, I tried to mimic famous blogs out there with frequent posts and “you’re going to love this” descriptions. We moved away from that as life moved on. The past few years, we’ve posted less frequently and more selectively. This year, I have posted anything since May (as I’m writing this). We’ve come to realize that it’s hard to be creative and wing it in the kitchen, while worrying about writing down ingredients and proportions.
I’ve thought about deleting the site altogether, but that makes me sad as a lot of work and memories are in here. I’ve thought about just using our instagram account (@bonappetitbabyblog) with just pictures and less words, but that negates the whole remembering how to make the delicious things piece of it. So I’ve just gone with not posting anything and left it all alone. But sometimes, I make something and am like, “Oh! I want to put this on the blog!” And then I freeze because it’s been so long. sd
So, I’m just going to revert my frame of thinking back to “culinary diary.” Not blog. Just writing down recipes to remember, with pictures. No selling people on a recipe. No long descriptions. Maybe I’ll have ChatGPT write a blurb for me. We’ll see. I may go delete some old posts that aren’t things I really care to recreate. And maybe we’ll post something once a month or once a year.
